This post is dedicated to gtalk (includes android users too) users who have a bajillion apps installed to be able to chat with their friends on MSN/AIM/ICQ/Jabber.

Although Google don’t have any additional transport protocols on their jabber servers although we can use third party servers as a workaround.

Why?
You can chat with all your friends using android’s native gTalk client, saving memory and battery life .

How to do it?

  1. Download Psi from http://www.psi-im.org and Install it
  2. Run Psi and enter your Gmail credentials
  3. Add the MSN transport using a third party server
    General > Service Discovery

Use the third party jabber server:

    Address: jabber.hot-chilli.net
    Browse
Left click on ‘Hot-Chilli MSN Transport’ and then ‘Register’
  4. Enter your msn login credentials
  5. Accept all the invites appearing on your jabber client
  6. Organize your contacts
  7. Go to gTalk and start chatting with your msn contacts :)
